We are taking it even further and are offering all of this to you as a BUY ONE, GET ONE event.

Some of you might want to surprise someone with a ticket, or you might want to split the cost with a friend—either way, we look forward to seeing you both in January 😊.

What's Included at this Ink Retreat?

  • 1.5 days of focus and support for your writing

  • Craft and/or writing-process workshops

  • Book coach access for personalized advice and check-ins on how the writing is going

  • Story Seed game featuring  The Story Engine Deck  to invigorate creativity

  • Dedicated, structured writing time for getting your words on the page

  • Breaks–both silent and chatty options are available

  • Permission to say "no" to anything other than writing

✨ We'll gather online for structured writing sprints, creative break-times, optional book coaching, and community connection with your fellow Inkwrights.

✨ Be ready to write your heart out; however, we care more about you making progress on your manuscript than about what draft you're on, where you begin the day when you arrive, or where you finish by the time we say goodbye.

✨ What you need to work on is whatever serves your story best: First draft, revisions, world-building, plotting, brainstorming—it all counts as progress on your manuscript.

Whilst Book Dragon Ink is oriented towards fantasy in our branding, we are not a fantasy exclusive retreat. If our vibe, coaches, and additional activities sound like a fit for you, then please join us. All genres are welcome.

✨ The coaches on board for this event, Sage Moreaux and Katherine Suzette, specialize in early drafts, revisions, and character-driven plots, so bring your manuscript, as your questions or get help as you need it, and make the progress you've been dreaming of.

✨ At just the right moment, Zinzi Bree will lead an optional Story Seed game featuring  The Story Engine Deck  for those who need a break, are experiencing creative blocks, or who need some inspiration to help them reconnect with their story.

The craft workshops:

Claim Your Why: Rewrite Your Process

Stuck? Resolutions already gone off the rails? Goals feeling overwhelming? Sage understands. Sometimes all it takes to make great strides in your work is the proper mindset. As you prepare to dive deeply into your manuscript, Book Coach Sage will help you rediscover why you started your current project in the first place and how to transform this thread of inspiration and excitement into a sustainable writing process, allowing you to write with confidence throughout this Ink Retreat and beyond.

The Golden Threads—Themes and Throughlines

As we aim to take flight on our writing journeys this year, Book Coach Katherine will help you identify and follow your book's golden threads that guide you, your plot, and your characters all the way through to "the end." These tools are extremely useful for any stage of drafting or revisions, and as far as Katherine is concerned, must be identifiable before querying or publishing. This is part of her "Get to Know Your Book" series—but it's a standalone workshop—you do not need to have attended a past event to get the most out of this workshop.

The Inspiration and Motivation-Fueling Game:

Story-Seed: A Fun Plot, Character, and Setting-Building Exercise using  The Story Engine Deck

In the words from Story Engine Deck themselves, "Don't wait for the muse." Community Captain, Zinzi Bree, runs a tight ship and a brilliant, gamified, inspiration session.  Check the game out by clicking this link.
