Katherine’s Manuscript Wishlist
My superpower is making characters so compelling that readers forget they have jobs, sleep schedules, and social obligations—one book at a time.
I’m genre-fluid within the bounds of Speculative Fiction and Non-Fiction, so if you don’t see your genre listed, don’t worry, just skim this then come chat with me and let’s decide together if we’re a fit! ❤️
Fiction
(Keep scrolling for non-fiction!)
I’m Obsessed With:
Cozies, fantasies, mysteries, romances, adventures, and all of their little sub-genre babies. I’m genre fluid, vibe dependent.
YA, NA, Adult
Standalones, series, epics, and graphic novels—I don’t discriminate on word count, but I may be able to help meet reader and industry expectations on length or girth if relevant (no pills necessary).
Elements I actively look for:
Characters with actual personalities
Medium to fast pacing, with the occasional delicious slow burn emotional arcs
Witty banter and sass that make me snort inappropriately in the coffee shop then feel embarrassed for the rest of my day
Meaningful relationships: friendships, mentor characters, found family, positive bio family, and other growth-empowering relationships
Characters who make difficult decisions—instead of being unfortunate plot pinballs
Diverse voices and experiences because this world is wonderfully full of differences
Characters over 25 living their wonderfully chaotic lives as if they were 17 in a werewolf rom-com with some life experience and grit (and 17 year olds with a sense of humor)
Great sentient creatures and objects
Bonus Points For:
Enemies-to-lovers written with depth
Morally gray characters I want to adopt from the shelter
Pride and Prejudice vibes in any setting or version
Authors who understand deeply how much power books have—and use that power responsibly
Note:
I will edit any spice or sweetness level or lack thereof, no holds barred on the versions of such, so long as it does not fall into the categories listed in my “will not edit” section.
I will NOT edit:
Screenplays—I get cross-eyed after a while, even with my beloved Shakespeare
Full poetry collections—love a good poem, but I get lost in a whole book
Hopeless, depressing endings with no character growth
Books in which the plot and characters matter less than the flowery prose
Gaslighting and major plot-related miscommunications that are never resolved
Books written solely for the purpose of explicit scenes (ie. erotica and beyond)
General Trauma-Ever-Afters (ie., no positive development or resolutions)
Non/con, dub/con, or trauma/abusive scenes of any kind that ignore real issues and are not used as tools to develop plot or character arcs in an, eventually, positive way
Positively represented sexual or romantic relationships in which one character is underage and the other is not
Not sure if your book fits? Let’s chat! If we’re not a fit, I’ll tell you kindly and likely recommend another editor who might be perfect for your project.
If you’ve been nodding along while you read this, then I want to chat!
I’m here to help writers craft a book readers will rave about to their friends and followers, books that keep readers up all night, books that make the world a little better, and books that make the world a little more magical.
Your book is worth an editor who’s just as obsessed with it as you are.
Non-fiction
I’m looking for:
YA, NA, Adult
Authors who care about their book’s impact on readers’ minds, lives, and hearts
Unique perspectives backed by real substance
Well-conceived, unique subject or perspectives with researched, actionable advice (when or if it is given)
Education about other languages and cultures
Psychology, cultural education, thought-provoking and soul-search inducing
Faith-based books with practical reasoning and empowerment built into their message (I will edit for multiple faith-based perspectives, but have a Christian background that lends some personal-experience expertise)
Daily reads structured to be read in small chunks each day
What I am NOT looking for in non-fiction:
Opinion pieces masquerading as expertise
Advice and information without relevant research to back it up
Inapplicable advice written solely so that the author can “hear” themselves speak
LMs that the author does not actually care about the quality of
“Fluff”—which is subjective, so chat with me if you think your manuscript might trend this direction
Faith-based manuscripts that berate, tear down, or otherwise use harmful words when describing other faiths (unless discussing cults and then… well, it depends, I suppose)
Memoir—generally speaking, this just isn’t a realm I’m interested in editing, however, I do have editors in my network who specialize in memoir, so feel free to ask for those recommendations

Every books shapes it’s reader’s mind, even if only a little bit. Every character and perspective has the potential to influence how readers see the world.
I’m here to make sure stories make the world a little better, a little more empathetic, a little more bearable, and a lot more entertained.
